Highlights from the 2018-19 Premier League season
With 12 wins, 17 losses and nine drawn games, the club finished 13th. The players showcased their brilliance in patches but couldn’t quite go on to make it big. Back in June this year, Rafa Benitez, the club’s manager, severed all ties with the club after failing to meet expectations. Fans were left heartbroken after Benitez parted ways with the club. Steve Bruce replaced Benitez at St. James’ Park.
The club’s emphatic win against Fulham in May this year would certainly feature on the highlights reel. Ayoze Perez was the club’s leading goal scorer last season (12 goals). His impressive on-field show earned him a contract with Leicester City FC.
Touching upon the club’s history
The club came into existence in 1892. Since its inception, the club has been giving tough competition to some of the Premier League heavyweights. Kevin Keegan managed the club from 1992-1997. During his tenure as manager, Newcastle FC secured promotion to the then newly-constituted Premier League. Keegan used the resources at hand quite judiciously by bringing in Barry Venison, Rob Lee, and Paul Bracewell. Under his leadership (as manager), Newcastle FC finished as runners up of two consecutive occasions (in 1995-96 and 1996-97). Newcastle United season tickets used to be in great demand back then.

Last season, Ayoze Perez was the club’s leading goal scorer. Now that he has shifted base to Leicester City FC, the club will have to deal with the void created by his departure. The likes of Dwight Gayle and Yoshinori Muto are seasoned campaigners. Both of these players need to make their presence felt in Perez’s absence. In recent times, Newcastle FC has struggled to find a striker that can spearhead the club’s attacking lines.

How to get to St. James’ Park?
Train - Newcastle Central Station happens to be the mainline station. Once you reach the station, you will have to walk for about 15 minutes in order to get to the stadium. If you’re coming on a match day, then try and reach a bit early as the station tends to get a bit too crowded. Newcastle United ticket prices depend on the ‘quality’ of the fixture. For instance, if there’s a match between Newcastle FC and Liverpool, then fans will make their way to the stadium in large numbers.
